Associate Brand Strategist
Brookyn-based role
AREA 17 is opening its doors to welcome a new cohort of juniors: your opportunity to work on brand and design projects with clients that keep you inspired. Three full-time roles in New York, one shared start, and a seat at the table from week one.
AREA 17 is a global brand, experience, and technology studio based in Paris and New York. The agency turns down more work than it takes on, and most of what survives that filter sits in arts and culture, health, and public good: organizations trying to do something real in the world, not just look the part.
That’s the kind of work that keeps people at the top of their game, staying for years, and it’s what you’d be stepping into.
Trust comes early. Junior team members present to clients and leadership within months of joining. You’re given the space to have opinions outside your discipline, and to hear them from people outside yours too.
While the work speaks for itself, so does the culture. The team is ambitious and positive, and standards are held high.
The opportunities
You've got the instinct for a strong idea and the discipline to prove it holds up. Here, you'll ground creative thinking in real business logic, for clients who want to do good and make the world a better place. Design school? Marketing? Career change? How you got here matters less than how you think.
Ideas first, always. This is your chance to design across digital-first projects, from motion and typography applications, to full identity systems. You'll work live alongside strategists and creatives, pulling on your cultural interests, calling on inspiration and sharing your raw ideas.
You'll design how things actually work: the flows people move through, the screens and patterns they interact with, and working prototypes that prove it all holds together. Research and product direction come in one end; a designed, usable, accessible experience comes out the other.
The deadline for applications is 31st August 2026.
You won’t be handed a laptop and left to figure it out. The cohort starts in October and spends its first three months in structured training, built to take you from learning how AREA 17 works to contributing to live client work.
First, the foundations. You’ll learn the studio’s methodology from the inside: how the agency approaches a brief, how they work with clients, how the disciplines fit together. This is the most training-heavy stretch, as you’re being taught properly before anything lands on your desk.
Then, into practice. The training tapers and the work picks up. You’ll build something together as a cohort on an internal project, shadow live client work, and go deeper on the craft specific to your own discipline.
Finally, the real thing. Client work, your contributions, your name on it; with time still protected for study and exploration alongside. By the end, you’re not learning the practice from the outside. You’re part of it!
You’ll have regular check-ins with your manager throughout, so you’ll always know where you stand.
We'll get back to you shortly.
